Transport Access Program (TAP)

Part of this program consists of updating nominated railway stations and their precincts within New South Wales (NSW) to improve access for elderly, disabled or mobility impaired patrons, parents with prams through the stations to the platforms. Typically, upgrading the railway station infrastructure to improve accessibility and amenity includes DSAPT compliant platforms, lifts, stairs, ramps, footbridges, parking, toilets and waiting areas.

The objective of the Scoping Design is to select and define the preferred accessibility design outcomes through a measured option process, identifying and applying the essential and desired requirements.

Another key objective for the work is to carry out engineering analysis to minimise program and project risk for the preferred scope of works and ensure alignment with applicable ASA design standards and guidelines.

The Transport Access Program is an initiative to provide a better experience for public transport customers by delivering accessible, modern, secure and integrated transport infrastructure where it is needed most. The program aims to provide:

• Stations Precincts that are accessible to the disabled, ageing and parents with prams, children, students and commuters
• Transport interchanges that support an integrated network and allow seamless transfers between all modes for all customers
• At least 1 Family Accessible Toilet (FAT) as a minimum (where toilets are provided)
