Angsana Quan Lan

Angsana resort is an international hotel brand of Banyan Tree. The resort is located on the secluded tropical island of Quan Lan in the majestic Halong Bay (a UNESCO World Natural Heritage-recognised site) in northeast Vietnam.

The first phase of this 75 hectare hospitality development comprises a five storey hotel complex accommodating 150 guest rooms and 37 detached bungalows across an exclusive 36 hectare oceanfront property.

The main hotel building is configured to optimise its unique dual sea aspect towards both east and west as well as towards nearby tropical hillsides.

The architectural expression of Angsana Resort is inspired by the site’s natural topographic layering from dense forest to pristine sandy beaches while the detailing, materials and finishes are derived from vernacular built structures and indigenous craft.

Angsana Resort has been accredited with an Advanced EDGE Green Building Certificate which concentrates on making buildings more resource-efficient with particular emphasis on reducing water and energy consumption as well as reducing the overall embodied energy required in building the resort.

The project is the first of its kind in many respects and sets a new benchmark on this remote island for international-standard hospitality services in a unique and growing region.
