Xianyang Olympic Sports Centre Stadium
Being a venue for the sixteenth Shaanxi Provincial Games, PTW Beijing was invited to take part in a competition for the design of a 40,000 seat stadium with associated training facilities.
Through skillful site planning and the adoption of an ovoid shape, the design for the Xianyang Olympic stadium was able to resolve issues of a highly constrained site. In the detail of the textured elevation, as an all-white surface and inspired by an ancient warrior’s amour, considered a surface which sought to reflect the daylight and capture the night light.
