Hurlstone Agricultural High School

Design is underway to upgrade the boarding facilities and the dairy facilities at Hurlstone Agricultural High School, Glenfield. Hurlstone Agricultural High School is one of NSW’s four agricultural high schools. It is the state’s only selective co-education agricultural high school for both boarders and day students.

The school is located on a 157 hectare site in Glenfield, approximately 40km distance from the Sydney CBD and an eight minute walk from Glenfield station. The site is split into two halves by Roy Watts Road.

Schools Infrastructure NSW is investing in the future of the school to continue its legacy of contribution to education.

The boarding upgrade will deliver:

  • 180 student accommodation beds
  • dormitory monitor rooms
  • senior and junior common rooms
  • amenities
  • overnight accommodation for rostered duty staff
  • two permanent staff residences in Building A.

The new farm hub will deliver:

  • dairy shed and milking parlour
  • dairy processing equipment
  • viewing gallery
  • co-located learning space
  • calf, beef and pig sheds
  • horticulture
  • commodity sheds and storage facilities
  • new equipment
  • irrigation systems
  • relocation and reconstruction of the sheep shed, chicken pens and aquaculture facility.

The project is a component of the new educational model for agriculture learning announced by the former Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning, the Hon. Sarah Mitchell in December 2019.

Further investment in state-wide agricultural education is underway at the Hawkesbury Centre of Excellence for Agricultural Education and Richmond High School for which PTW completed the masterplan and multi-purpose hall.
