383 George Street
PTW won a City of Sydney design excellence competition. The building represented a carefully considered solution to knit together two heritage listed buildings into a larger mixed-use development.
Located on George Street in the retail heart of Sydney’s CBD, directly opposite the Strand Arcade and Mid-City shopping centres, the building consisted of a 4-storey, 4,000m² retail podium largely occupying the two heritage buildings. A through-site-link to York Street was introduced using one of the last remaining ‘cart-lanes’ in Sydney. Above this, 13 floors of A-grade office space was cantilevered above the retail podium and heritage buildings.
