PTW Transforming Sydney's Skyline and Streets: City Shaping Project Underway for Chatswood

A Design Excellence competition winning scheme, 845 Pacific Highway is located prominently on the eastern side of Pacific Highway. The mixed-use BTR development has recently achieved HDA approval and will include 500 apartments with 15% affordable housing and commercial premises.

The development’s public realm is intended to provide a focus to the disjointed surrounding public spaces. It will encourage community interaction and a sense of calm within Chatswood’s high energy, dynamic environment.

The key principles addressing wellbeing and Connecting with Country were well articulated and commended by the Jury: “PTW’s dedication was applauded with strong evidence of engagement with the cultural heritage advisor.”

Responding to Country, the approach to the ground plane was inspired by the sense of activity along the northern ridge (Pacific Highway), the important landscape form and historic movement path stretching north from Sydney’s CBD. The outdoor gathering space will create an opportunity to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of community, history and shared experiences.
