The People Behind the Projects: PTW Interiors

Whether it epitomises the pinnacle of luxury like the 5-star Langham Hotel, Gold Coast, or perhaps is more modest in scope, like student accommodation Scape Kingsford, our multi-award-winning interiors team have done it all—and everything in between, including future-focused workplaces, family-orientated hospitality venues, and the list goes on.

As well as their versatility, PTW Interiors—led by veteran interior designer Kerry Fyfe—are known for their creativity, sensitivity, and impeccable eye for detail. A short stroll to the southernmost end of PTW’s Sydney office will take you to their nook, where lies an assortment of swatch books and samples. On any given day, you will find one designer or another assiduously searching through them for the that’s-the-one. This tireless pursuit for excellence—whether it be for that perfect sheen of fabric, shade of light, or sleekness of a bathroom fitting—is what makes PTW Interiors’ spaces so palpable in feeling yet seamless in function, so distinct yet never at odds with their surroundings. Whether you are passing through or staying in them, it is all the same: the impression they leave is lasting.

Recently, we sat down with PTW Interiors to discuss who they are as designers, how they work, what they do, and why they do it. For Natasha, an early fascination with Lego sowed the seeds of her design career while a desire for the finer details shifted Kerry’s focus from architecture to interiors. We also spoke of dream homes, with Emma imagining floor to ceiling windows, fine Persian rugs, and a great melange of cushions and lamps; why windows are the first thing Jay notices in a room; and how the feeling of a space first strikes Grace, rather than its aesthetics. Finally, why finding beauty in all tastes and styles is a skill every interior designer must master.
