Stade Municipal de Kintélé was the main venue for the 2015 African Games. It included a 60,000-seat football stadium, a 10,000-seat indoor stadium, a 2000-seat aquatics centre, ancillary facilities and various outdoor venues.
The project objectives were to:
create a sports centre that can be recognised globally for its world-class design, ecological features and high standard sport facilities;
provide well-equipped, fully compliant venues and logistic areas for the African Games;
improve the overall impression and image of the city’s iconic buildings;
create appropriate premises where public culture, sport, interaction and leisure activities can be enriched for the city’s inhabitants; and
create enduring premises that support and develop the traditional Congolese culture.
