Mt Victoria Railway Station Dilapidation and Condition Report
PTW Architects undertook visual inspection and condition assessment of the historic Mount Victoria Railway Station building group, a State Heritage Item and the largest station complex in the Blue Mountains, NSW. Built at various stages between 1868-1926, this station is culturally significant.
The purpose of this visual inspection was to record the condition, including the extent of dilapidation, for all the station buildings, toilet structures and platform elements. Adopting a scheduling methodology the condition report, for each room and external surface was assessed, and found that immediate maintenance is required to large sections of the building group to either stabilise significant fabric that might become dislodged, or to stabilise those elements having historic significance and to avoid any further loss of fabric. Limitations of this inspection included inspection of the roof, the roof space and the underfloor spaces to all buildings.
