Ongoing Design Excellence Through Collaboration on the Global Stage
PTW expanded its highly diversified architectural practice with its design leaders specialising in a broad range of sectors including residential/mixed use, infrastructure, integrated communities, the arts (education/culture) and sport. A landmark project during this period was the new extension to the National Gallery of Australia (2010) which transformed the public experience of the gallery by introducing a new entry, and galleries for the display of Indigenous art.
PTW continued to build on its track record working with international practices, further developing techniques and relationships that allowed the firm to create genuine partnerships with other architectural firms and specialist consultants, sharing specialised knowledge and awareness of local context and culture amongst project designers. Sydney’s One Central Park was completed in 2014 with design architect Ateliers Jean Nouvel and PTW as local collaborating architect. Frasers Property’s visionary 5.8 hectare redevelopment of the former Carlton and United Brewery site, set a global standard for innovative sustainable, high density urban living.
Projects undertaken with CCDI (with whom PTW had merged in 2013) include Hongtu Innovation Plaza in Shenzhen; an exhibition centre in the north-eastern Algerian city of Constantine; and a sports stadium in Congo’s Brazzaville.
Other key projects during this period include Sydney Grammar Concert Hall (2011); Coffs Harbour Justice Precinct (2015); The Calyx, Sydney (2016); The Alexander at Barangaroo South (2016); and Viettel Headquarters (interiors) Vietnam (2018).
PTW continues to be invited to join many design excellence competitions and to participate in conferences, symposia and workshops, representing not only its own practice but also the wider design industry.
